About the Event

Stand for Freedom is an unprecedented, patriotic community event organized by Active Impact, in which thousands of Utahns will gather on Saturday, October 10, 2026 to form an epic continuous U.S. flag chain along the Murdock Canal and Provo River Trails in celebration of America’s 250th Anniversary. The goal is a chain of 17.76 miles—a symbolic distance honoring the year of America’s founding. The event is expected to be one of the largest coordinated patriotic demonstrations in Utah’s history—and in the history of our nation—drawing participants from across the Wasatch Front.

Participants will gather at staging areas along the trail to check in, pick up their flag kits, and receive a numbered position in the chain. A brief welcome ceremony will kick off the celebration, after which flag bearers will move onto the trail. At 10:30 am, thousands of participants standing united will simultaneously raise American flags end-to-end across the entire route — holding them aloft for 15 minutes while drone cameras capture the spectacle from above.

Our flag is the symbol that unites us across backgrounds, beliefs, and generations. It represents the freedoms we enjoy, the sacrifices made to preserve them, and the responsibility we share to protect them. In that spirit, this is a chance for communities to come together in a powerful, visual declaration of gratitude for the freedoms we share.

Invite your family, friends, neighbors and co-workers to join you for a morning of patriotism, community and celebration!
